The London Symphony Orchestra 2006-2020 Collection
The London Symphony Orchestra 2006-2020 Collection consists of over 40 filmed performances from one of the world’s leading orchestras. This collection showcases live performances from the LSO between 2006 and 2020 including Sir Simon Rattle conducting Beethoven: Christ on the Mount of Olives (2020), Sir Antonio Pappano conducting Sibelius, Bernstein and Nielsen (2017), and BMW Classics live from Trafalgar Square (2018 and 2019).
Sir Simon Rattle conducts Beethoven: Christ on the Mount of Olives, featuring acclaimed singers Elsa Dreisig, Pavol Breslik and David Soar. A rarely heard masterpiece and Beethoven’s only oratorio, this performance combines the LSO’s acclaimed orchestra, the voices of exceptional soloists, and the expert baton of Sir Simon Rattle to tell the story of Jesus’ prayer and arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane.
Sir Antonio Pappano conducts Sibelius, Bernstein and Nielsen with a special performance from Janine Jansen, whose sweeping violin leads us through the changing characters and moods of Bernstein’s Serenade; a musical meditation on love inspired by Plato.
The 2018 and 2019 performances of BMW Classics live, which transformed Trafalgar Square into an open-air stage for Sir Simon Rattle and the London Symphony Orchestra. Rattle conducts 100 musicians alongside 50 young musicians from the LSO On Track program in East London and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in one of the world’s most iconic public spaces.
